Integrated Composites, Inc. Awarded Fourth Production Order from U.S. Army for the Composite Universal Weapons Pylon

Integrated Composites, Inc., an AGC Aerospace & Defense company, has received a fourth U.S. Army contract for continued production of the lightweight Composite Universal Weapons Pylon (CUWP) for the Kiowa Warrior helicopter.

“We are very proud that the U.S. Army has selected us to provide this high-performance and cost saving solution,” stated Preston Sandusky, general manager at Integrated Composites.  “We are fully engaged on production of the CUWP, and this award enables us to maintain our production rates to support the U.S. Army’s plan for full-fleet fielding with this system.”

The CUWP is a next generation weapons pylon designed and produced by Integrated Composites in order to lighten the helicopter and improve mission capability.  The previous older generation model was made out of steel and weighed considerably more than the new carbon composite design.  Through further analysis, as well as extensive testing, it was proven that this composite design was significantly stronger than the original metal pylon.  The CUWP mounts to the sides of the Bell OH-58D Kiowa Warrior, an armed scout attack helicopter, and supports a variety of weapons platforms.
